Pima Cotton

History says this type of cotton appeared over 5 thousand years ago in Peru, but only started to be produced in scale in the last millennium.

Today, it is cultivated 981 km north of the country’s capital, almost on the border with Ecuador. In this region, the encounter of two ocean currents creates the ideal (and rare) environment for the production of a natural wax that coats the cotton fiber and gives this fabric a unique shine.

That’s why Peru is the birthplace of this product, the largest pima cotton producer and exporter in the world.

And what makes pima cotton so special?

Its extra-long fiber, almost twice as long as common threads. To give you an idea, its length varies from 38 to 41mm, while conventional cotton fibers measure from 20 to 32mm. This generates A MORE RESISTANT AND MORE DURABLE FABRIC. And by “more durable” we are talking about 50% more durable than conventional cotton. You can use the washing machine, put clothes in your no-frills routine with the certainty that they won’t be littered, frayed or a rag.

When it comes to natural fiber, the longer and smoother the filament, the more noble the touch. EXTRA-LONG PIMA COTTON FIBER GENERATES EXTREMELY SOFT TOUCH. Some say it’s the softest cotton in the world.

Another positive point of Pima Cotton is that, as it is a pure natural fiber, it´s what we call “A BREATHABLE FABRIC”, IT ALLOWS YOUR SKIN TO BREATHE, WHETHER IN HEAT OR COLD. If your baby sweat, there’s absorption, and in the cold, it’s not a cold garment. This thermal balance offered by the raw material is ideal for your baby’s skin.

Speaking of baby skin, it is increasingly common for newborns to have some dermatitis, allergies or specific problems in their skin. Using a conventional cotton can make the situation worse. Pima Cotton has a manual harvest, which greatly reduces the amount of chemicals used in the process, generating a HYPO-ALLERGIC TISSUE.

Why is pima cotton different and what are its advantages?

PIMA COTTON FIBER IS THE THINEST AND LONGEST THERE IS (up to 45% thinner than conventional cotton), for this reason it requires less splicing.

Its HARVEST IS MADE MANUALLY, which is essential to maintain its purity, DISMISSING THE USE OF CHEMICALS IN THE INDUSTRIALIZATION PROCESS.

It is more durable and resistant than other cottons, and its FIBER STRENGTH IS UP TO 50% GREATER THAN CONVENTIONAL FIBERS.

Its HARVEST IS MADE MANUALLY, which is essential to maintain its purity, DISMISSING THE USE OF CHEMICALS IN THE INDUSTRIALIZATION PROCESS.

IT IS AN EXTREMELY SOFT AND DELICATE FABRIC, SUPER DURABLE AND EASY TO MAINTAIN (MACHINE WASHING).

Unlike common synthetic fabrics, PIMA COTTON FACILITATES AIR EXCHANGES BETWEEN THE SKIN AND THE ENVIRONMENT, IT HAS BREATHABLE threads.

DOES NOT FORM BOLTS even after successive washings and has greater stain resistance.
